Gioeni's Academy and scientific congresses in Sicily after the Italian Unification

Abstract

After the Unification of Italy, the Gioeni's Academy has seen passing in front of his headquarter six national Congresses of scientific societies called Società Italiana di Scienze Naturali, Società degli Scienziati italiani, and Società per il Progresso delle Scienze. Some of these meetings have seen an active participation of his own academical members, some other have registered their marginal role. As an associational institution, it has never had a direct organizational responsibility, preferring to be only represented.
