Aspects of the figure and work of Marcello La Greca

Abstract

The Authors highlight some aspects of the figure and work of Marcello La Greca, prominent character as Gioeni Academician, professor at the University of Catania, zoologist of recognized authority, an intensely active figure on the scientific, cultural and social level. In particular, they describe his personality as professor of Zoology and teacher in training young zoologists at the University of Catania, as pioneer of a holistic vision of the management of the environment and protected areas, as mentor of a Sicilian environmentalist association. All elements that contribute to assigning to La Greca a special testimony of a Gioeni Academician also committed to translating his scientific skills into tools for the construction of a more liveable world.
