Abstract
The history of Catania Astrophysical Observatory is retraced starting from the second half of the 18th century when all Teachers of astronomical Courses given at Catania University have resolutely but vainly required the building of an Observatory, necessary to complete the Course programs with observational lessons. The Gioeni Academy with the solemn Reunion organized in 1876 to honour Vincenzo Bellini in occasion of the transportation of his spoils from Paris to Catania and with the Opening Ceremony of the CXXXI Academic Year in 1954, give to Pietro Tacchini and Giorgio Abetti, respectively, the opportunities to prepare the Institution of Catania Astrophysical Observatory and his renaissance.
