German members of the Accademia Gioenia: completing Monterosso’s work with online and archival tools

Abstract

This work complements and enriches Prof. Bruno Monterosso’s volume on the alphabetical list of members of the Accademia Gioenia of Catania from its foundation to 1960, with particular focus on German members such as the two physicians Walther and the surgeon Michael Jäger. Thanks to modern online research resources, their personal data, university affiliations, and biographies have been verified and refined, resulting in a more complete and accurate representation of their academic history. The study does not intend to criticize Monterosso’s work, but rather highlights its importance and extends its accuracy through digital tools.
