Abstract

The Red Lists of the threatened flora are a core component of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation, and the assessment protocol proposed by IUCN is the standard procedure at the international level. The working group for Conservation of Nature of SBI, together with Flora Working Group, is promoting the amendment of the Red Lists of Italian Flora according to the recent version of the IUCN protocol. Here, we provide a synthesis of the protocol structure, and highlight some aspects that are relevant for its application to plants.
